What is past life regression?
Past life regression is a therapeutic technique that uses deep meditation to recover a persons memories of their past lives. By exploring these past lives you can uncover personal stories that help to explain who you are now.
This is based on the belief that your reactions and the way you respond to problems can be based in the past - particularly if you are dealing with an issue that seems to have a 'direct' cause.
How does it work?
Our souls have been through many lifetimes before this one. With each life time, we chose who we are going to be, who our families are, who is going to come into certain parts of our lives to teach us important lessons, or support us through parts or all of our life, we chose our strengths, our weaknesses, what our challenges will be, and what we ultimately are here to master in this lifetime. (Now you know this - you may start to recognise that what your soul has a deep connection with - the things you find yourself naturally gravitating towards, the places you feel a deep connection to, the people you meet and instantly feel like you've known forever - this is no coincidence)
At the beginning of each life time our conscious minds are to forget everything - so that we can begin our lifetime lessons from a neutral perspective (we wouldn't learn and grow if we knew that we already knew it all) the aim is to reconnect with our true selves later on down the line and re discover who we really are and our purpose (which is why many people experience their 'spiritual awakenings' around the 25-35 year mark)
Once we start to reconnect to who we truly are - we realise that this isn't our first time on earth. Most of us have had many lifetimes before this one, each one bringing different challenges for us to master.
By reconnecting and recognising who we truly are, we are able to view our lives from a different perspective. We gain clarity and insight into what we came here to do, why certain people are in our lives and what our lessons are in this lifetime.
Past life regression works by relaxing and quietening the conscious mind by taking you into a 'Theta' state of mind. A Theta state of mind gives you a powerful boost into intuitive work and your ability to access the subconscious mind (the all knowing part of you that holds all the memories of every life you've ever had). Once connected to your subconscious mind we will access the memories of the lifetimes that you need to be aware of at the present moment. We will uncover who you were, we will establish who was around you and the relationships you had with those people, we will visit important events in the life time of who you were in those lifetimes, and take the learnings from them as well. We will usually visit 1-2 lifetimes in the session, and once this is done we perform a healing meditation for you and then bring you back into the present moment.
What will it feel like?
Accessing past lives can feel different for everyone. Some people are able to see everything very vividly, some people can feel the energies, some people have a sense of just knowing, some people have it all. Whatever experience you have is the right one for you at the present moment.
I tell my clients - imagine trying to remember an event that happened 20+ years ago. You would usually start by remembering an image, or a feeling, or even a scent, from a particular memory. If you then decided to focus in on that memory, you would be able to start building a bigger picture. Who was there. What did you feel like. What you wearing. What did you smell. What happened before and after. Past life regression is often much the same as this. You are accessing old memories your soul has stored for many years. Sometimes they can come up very vividly, and sometimes we have to put the picture together bit by bit until the rest just flows.
During the session itself you will feel very relaxed and most people feel semi conscious - the feeling you get just before you fall asleep, and some people may feel like they are having a deep sleep. Many people remember part or most of their sessions, some may not remember much at all - but they are all recorded for you so that you can listen back in your own time.
How will you feel afterwards?
Most people will feel in a bit of a daze once they are brought back into the present moment. You may also feel quite tired and it is advisable for you to take it easy over the coming 24 hours so that your mind and body can process the information and healing you have accessed during your session.
I would always recommend that you drink plenty of water after your session and that you also make sure that you have something to eat to help you ground yourself.
How to best prepare for past life regression
I would advise my clients to meditate as often as possible on the run up to their session with me - this can be something as simple as a 10-15 minute guided meditation, and it is useful because it will help you get used to relaxing your mind and strengthening that connection to the subconscious mind, which we will be using in the session.
Limited intake of alcohol, caffeine and substances, and where possible, completely stop the intake of these altogether is advisable.
Eat healthy light foods - nothing heavy such as red meat, pasta, high fat takeaway's etc, and again less or no sugary drinks, diet drinks or energy drinks.
Reiki can also help people access their past lives - for those who are very busy and stressed it may be a good idea to invest in a reiki session a couple of days before your past life regression booking to help relax the mind and release any energy blockages.
